Job description
Purpose of the job:
The Financial Controller is responsible for managing, advising and supporting the region on the Balance Sheet, P&L and any financial and control matters/issues for the Region.
He/she is also responsible for ensuring that internal controls and group policies are applied in order to ensure that the region's assets are protected and adequately monitored.
The Financial Controller is the Leader of the Finance department of the region and is managing a small team within the region. He/she is recognized internally as specialist on complex technical and financial or tax matters.
Main activities:
1. Controlling:
- Manage the finances of the region and ensure that all internal controls and financial policies set by the Group are applied and adhered to.
- Work actively with the business controllers; improve visibility and importance of finance within the region, ensuring buy-in from all other operational areas.
- Ensure that internal and external reporting requirements are met
- Monitor regional spending against approved budget.
- Prepare monthly operating expense forecast and annual budget
- Establish an efficient finance function in the region
- Ad hoc projects as required by region or group finance
2. Accounting:
- Insure the monthly closing for several entities
- Balance sheet reconciliations and P&L Review and Analysis
- Inter-company recharge & reconciliation
- Cash flow management
- Liaise with internal and external auditors and local authorities
- Capacity to work with a shared service centre
3. Tax Compliance and other responsibilities:
- Insure direct and indirect tax compliance within the region
- Setup/Close entities within the region and liaise with lawyers
Who we are looking for
Required qualifications:
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, CIMA, CPA equivalent) with 7+ years post-qualified experience in Finance/Control/Accounting.
- University background (Finance, Business Administration).
- IFRS Gaap Knowledge
- In depth understanding of Finance and Business Control requirements in an IT/Software Business Environment.
- Advance knowledge of MS Office suite of application (Excel, Access, ...) and advance knowledge of Oracle 11i
- Ability to effectively work together with outside Financial Shared Service Centers and other outside service providers
- Ability to work and succeed in multi cultural environment.
- Perfect command of English, English being the company's business language
- Assertive with a strong and outspoken personality
- Capacity to work independently on own initiative
- Stress resistant, team-player, proactive, results-oriented
A perfect candidate would have:
- Previous audit experience (preferably Big 4 trained)
- Previous Financial Controller experience
- Extensive experience with Oracle
- Fluent English
- Ability to work under pressure and stress
- Reactive and proactive
- Independent, business acumen
